Aviation and Technology Museum Merseburg

The airfield (where the museum is now located) was built in 1934 and was used by the Soviet armies after World War II (until 1991). In 1996 it was subsequently converted into a Museum. The rest of the old airport is still located outside the museum, part of which is still in use, but another large part is now in disuse.

This beautiful museum draws its charms from… the decline of the museum itself. You can clearly see that the time (and money) is lacking to be able to keep up with everything and that does give it the charm that you'll miss at many other museums. So yes, sometimes there's (a lot of) dust on it, things slowly rust away, but to be honest ... We would love to see museums like this more often.
